Six cases of the Zika virus in Louisiana were confirmed Wednesday by the Louisiana Department of Health during a one-person Senate committee hearing.
Mosquito spraying in Eunice is likely to begin in the next few weeks, and the Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals has an aggressive plan in place should the Zika virus be found in the state’s mosquito population.

Summer is not far away, and with it will come swarms of mosquitoes, which bring the threat of West Nile virus, eastern equine encephalitis and the potential for other diseases like Zika virus.
