Glendale Elementary students learn Social Studies unit on La.
Jade Doucet’s third-grade class at Glendale Elementary created a Louisiana scene as a culmination of their Social Studies unit on our state. The scene included such traditional and cultural items as: a triangle, accordian, washboard, Mardi Gras costumes, gumbo pot, crawfish trap, many Louisiana-themed books, our state flag, and collages created by the students. These items were set up in the school’s nature pond area and all classes in the school were invited to view the items and enjoy the scenes of the pond environment. Doucet’s class also enjoyed hot boudin from T-Boy’s in which Mr. T-Boy is one of the third grader’s grandfather. (Aiden Savoie).
