St. Edmund, Basile and Church Point gave it all they had in their respective quarterfinal games, but the Blue Jays, Bearcats and Battling Bears all saw their football seasons end last Friday.
RUSTON – It wasn’t the way the Blue Jays wanted their season to end - in a cold, muddy mess at Cedar Creek.
Cougar quarterback Mark Van scored three times and helped Cedar Creek (9-3) roll up 355 yards of total offense in a 28-7 Division IV quarterfinal win over St. Edmund (8-4).
For the second time in the past four years, the St. Edmund Blue Jays have advanced the state quarterfinals.
The No. 5 Blue Jays are travelling to No. 4 Cedar Creek on Friday.
VILLE PLATTE – The Lady Devils jumped out to an eight-point lead that the Lady Jays never could overcome as Port Barre survived for a 31-29 win over St. Edmund in the annual Turkey Tournament at Sacred Heart.
After falling behind 14-0, St. Edmund exploded for 26 points in the second quarter and went on to grab a 48-34 win over Ascension Catholic in the regional round of the Division IV playoffs.
