Lady Bengals lose 101-61 to Lady Thunderbirds at tournament
The LSU Eunice Lady Bengals closed the South Plains College tournament Nov. 7 with a 101-61 loss to New Mexico Junior College.
NWJC opened with a 24-14 first quarter run before a 25-11 surge gave the Lady Thunderbirds a 49-25 advantage.
New Mexico exploded for a 34-19 third quarter before the Lady Bengals battled back with a good final quarter but LSUE was too far behind.
Katie Lemieux scored 19 points, while Becca Brooks chipped 16 points including four three-pointers. The Lady Bengals opened the South Plains College tournament with a 65-43 loss to the host Lady Texans Friday night.
South Plains (3-1) held an early 19-12 advantage before a 15-8 run gave the Lady Texans a 34-20 lead at intermission.
SPC exploded for a 23-8 surge to open the second half before the Lady Bengals finished the game with a 15-8 run to close the final gap to 65-43.
Katie Lemieux led LSU Eunice with 20 points, while Sydney Martin had nine rebounds.
Yanina Inkina led SPC with 14 points and five rebounds, while Jasmyne Martin chipped in 12 points and Elizabeth Cera had eight assists.
