No. 2-ranked Lady Bengals pick up four wins in two days
PEARL RIVER, Miss. – The second-ranked Lady Bengals rolled through the Pearl River Community College tournament as LSU Eunice picked up four wins in two days. LSU Eunice plays in the Faulkner State (Ala.) Community College tournament that begins on Feb. 20.
The Lady Bengals (15-2) opened the tournament on Friday with a 12-4 win over East Mississippi Community College as LSU Eunice scored eight unanswered runs to seal the victory.
Destin Vicknair picked up the win as she struck out five, walked four and allowed four earned runs with three hits in three innings of work.
Kayla Davidson finished the game as she fanned four, walked one but did not allow a hit.
Vicknair helped her own cause as she went 2-for-3 with a home run, three RBI and two runs scored and a walk.
Maddie Edmonston went 3-for-3 with a double and three runs scored to lead the Lady Bengals.
Taylor Boulet went 1-for-3 with two runs scored, while Carmisha Payton went 2-for-3 with a RBI and a run scored.
Katie Flowers went 2-for-3 with two RBI, while Kayla Braud went 2-for-3 with a double, two RBI and two runs scored.
Danielle Cruickshank went 1-for-4 with a double and two RBI, while Raven Cole went 1-for-4 with a home run.
The Lady Bengals finished Friday’s action with a 4-0 win over host Pearl River Community College as Cole struck out 15, walked four and scattered two hits over seven innings.
Vicknair went 3-for-4 with a double, two RBI and a run scored.
Boulet, Camille Quebodeaux, Jessica Thomas, Edmonston, Alexa Thibodeaux and Abigail Ohlin all collected hits for the Lady Bengals.
In the first game on Saturday, the Lady Bengals exploded for six runs in the bottom of the third inning to seal a 8-2 win over Itawamba Community College.
Kayla Davidson earned the win as she struck out two, walked one and allowed four hits in four innings of work.
Vicknair finished the final three innings as she fanned three and scattered two hits.
Edmonston went 2-for-3 with a triple, a RBI and two runs scored to spark the Lady Bengals.
Cruickshank went 1-for-3 with a home run and two RBI, while Davidson went 1-for-2 with two RBI and a run scored.
Vicknair, Cole, Payton and Ohlin collected hits as the Lady Bengals picked up their 14th win.
LSU Eunice closed the tournament with a 9-0 win over Faulkner State Community College, sealing the contest with a five-run surge in the top of the sixth inning.
Cole picked up her second win of the weekend as she struck out six and allowed just three hits in the shut-out.
Cole also went 1-for-4 at the plate with two RBI.
Edmonston went 3-for-4 with two RBI and a run scored, while Thibodeaux went 2-for-2 with a double, a RBI and a run scored.
Boulet, Cruickshank, Thomas, Payton and Alli Daigle all added hits for the Lady Bengals.
