LHSAA Academic All-State Program

by: Kenny Henderson,  Executive Director

The Louisiana High School Athletic Association (LHSAA) proudly recognizes the many accomplishments of our student-athletes on and off the fields and courts of competition. Excelling both in the classroom and on the field takes hard work, dedication and great time management. We encourage all member-school student-athletes to strive hard in their high-school academic careers to participate in this year’s LHSAA/ExxonMobil Academic All-State Program presented by ISC.

This academic program is open to all senior student-athletes of LHSAA member-schools who have maintained a cumulative 3.5 GPA or higher on a 4.0 scale throughout their high school careers. These student-athletes will be placed on either the Composite Team or on their respective Class/Division teams. The highest achieving student-athletes who have maintained a cumulative 4.0 GPA make the All-State Composite Team. The next tier of recognition includes the All-State Class/Division teams.

In order to nominate student-athletes for the All-State Composite Team, member-school principals must submit an official six-semester transcript to the LHSAA by Monday, October 14, 2013 via fax at 225-296-5919. Once approved by the LHSAA, these students will be honored at their respective state championships and presented with a plaque by an ExxonMobil representative.

For student-athletes meeting the qualifications for the Class/Division teams, principals may access the Members section of the LHSAA website to create certificates for school award presentations. In the event there are too few students with a cumulative 4.0 GPA for the Composite Team, the LHSAA may request official transcripts from these student-athletes to fill the remaining spots. Once all teams are compiled, rosters for all sports’ teams will be posted on the LHSAA website in theAll-Academic section found under the Sports section.

The LHSAA is pleased to recognize these high achieving student-athletes who compete in football, volleyball, baseball, wrestling, soccer, gymnastics, girls’ and boys’ basketball, girls’ and boys' swimming, track and field, boys’ and girls’ cross-country, tennis, bowling and golf. We recognize the importance of  great academic careers to the future successes of our student-athletes.
