Contract protects homeowners

CROWLEY – After the storm season of 2005 there were countless reports of contractors not doing their jobs up to required standards. While the majority of contractors are honest, there were hundreds of incidents where trusting people paid money for work that wasn’t completed or wasn’t finished properly.

CROWLEY – After the storm season of 2005 there were countless reports of contractors not doing their jobs up to required standards. While the majority of contractors are honest, there were hundreds of incidents where trusting people paid money for work that wasn’t completed or wasn’t finished properly.

The contract we included in the Sunday, September 7 edition of the paper can be used to hold contractors responsible for their work and to protect people from losing their money to those contractors which are dishonest. The contract needs to be completed by the contractor and the customer and should be kept for record purposes. The contractor may wish to keep a copy of the contract for himself.

If the contract is not fulfilled, the customer can get with their local law enforcement jurisdiction who will in turn contact the Attorney General who will prosecute should your contract be unfulfilled.

Additional copies of this contract can be obtained from the Acadia Parish Sheriff’s Office or their website at www.apso.org.
