Shooting now linked to Opelousas shooting

A man was shot three times in a house in the 400 block of Jelks Street early today, Eunice Police Chief Randy Fontenot said.
Police were called to the scene at about 1 a.m.
A woman called police and said there were several men in her yard and someone banged on her door, radio logs stated.
“While she was on the phone a dispatcher they started shooting at the house,” Fontenot said. “There were kids in the house. She told the dispatcher her husband had been shot ... the phone went dead and she was going to see about the kids to make sure they were OK and safe, which they were.”
The radio logs stated the caller said there were three to four black males in the yard.
The victim was hit three times and taken to Acadian Medical Center and flown to another hospital for treatment, Fontenot said.
The man, who was shot while in a bedroom, was wounded in the lower abdomen and once in each foot, Fontenot said.
“Details are sketchy now because they were unable to interview the victim,” he said.
Several shots were fired into the house, he said.
No arrests have been made, and the investigation continued Wednesday afternoon, Fontenot said.
The investigation has poured over into Opelousas where a shooting occurred last night with possibly the same suspects, he said.
