Mamou man killed in wreck on La. 26

A single-vehicle crash claimed the life of a man from Mamou shortly before 6 a.m. , this morning, a report from Louisiana State Police Troop D stated.
State Police responded to a single-vehicle crash on La. 26 about 6 ½ miles east of Oberlin in Allen Parish.
Police said the initial investigation revealed a 2005 Chevrolet Malibu was traveling east on La. 26 and entered a curve when the driver, 25-year-old Cody Hammon of Mamou, lost control of the vehicle. The vehicle traveled off the road and struck a tree, police.
Hammon was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected through the windshield and he was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
Excessive speed is suspected to be a factor in the crash, police said. A toxicology sample was obtained from Hammon and will be submitted for analysis, police said. The crash remains under investigation.
