Morse man arrested for felony carnal knowledge of a juvenile

A Morse man has been charged him with felony carnal knowledge of a juvenile following an investigation into an incident that was reported on Aug 4, a news release from Acadia Parish Sheriff Wayne Melancon stated.
A complaint that 25-year-old Travis John Benoit of the 100 block of Oran Street, Morse, had sexual contact with a 16-year-old juvenile, Melancon stated.
Investigators learned that Benoit initially made contact with the victim through social media and that the encounter took place in a parking lot in the northwest part of Acadia Parish, Melancon stated.
Benoit was arrested without incident and placed in the Acadia Parish Jail with bond set at $100,000 by District Judge David Smith, the news release stated.
