Police: Juvenile school bomber confesses

Key clue is a misspelling

A 13-year-old fifth-grader at Central Middle School has been charged in two bomb threats — one made Monday and the other nearly a year ago on Sept. 17, Eunice Police Chief Randy Fontenot said.
One clue was the misspelling of “bomb” in the note this week and the one found a year ago.
Last year’s note stated, “A bome will go off at 12.”
This week’s note stated, “A bome will go off 12.”
On Monday, the bomb threat was left on the floor by a teacher’s desk, Fontenot said.
Police were not immediately called, he said.
“The reason police were not immediately notified was because the principal immediately recognized the handwriting,” he said. “The note said the exact same things down to the same word misspelled.”
The ink used in Monday’s threat also was the same as that used last year, he said.
The one difference was last year’s note was found written on a bathroom wall used by fifth-graders, he said.
The principal figured the note had to be written by the same student and there was only one student in the class who is repeating the fifth grade, he said.
When confronted, the student confessed to both incidents, Fontenot said.
The juvenile faces two counts of communicating of false information of planned bombing on school property.
