Police: Man tried to stuff cockroach into woman’s mouth
A Ville Platte man attempted to stuff a cockroach into a woman’s mouth during a domestic attack sparked by the 21-year-old woman’s refusal to have sex with him, Eunice Police Chief Randy Fontenot said.
Dexter Mayes, 28, 4100 block of Opelousas Road, Ville Platte is charged with domestic abuse battery by strangulation, domestic abuse aggravated assault and aggravated assault.
Mayes was arrested Tuesday for the assault that occurred at about 5:30 a.m. July 16, a residence in the 1400 block of Williams Avenue, Fontenot said.
Both had been drinking and after Mayes and the victim argued, the confrontation turned physical when Mayes started to choke the woman, he said.
The woman was able to get away, but Mayes caught up with her in another room and grabbed her hair and dragged her to enclosed porch on the trailer. That’s where he tried to shove the cockroach into the woman’s mouth, he said.
The struggle continued until a couple people separated the two, he said.
The woman left the residence, but returned with another person to retrieve some vehicle keys, Fontenot.
“When she went back, Mays approached her with a large knife and said he was going to kill the two of them,” Fontenot said.
