Police: Woman escapee makes the wrong turn

A Eunice City Jail inmate escaped for about two minutes Thursday, Eunice Police Chief Randy Fontenot said.
Sydney Dashawn Ben, 18, had been taken to the restroom facility at the jail at 1:39 p.m. and that is when the escape began, he said.
Ben, shoeless, took off running toward the City Hall entrance, but turned right, and eventually was snared as she struggled to open the doors to the mayor’s office, Fontenot said.
There was no explanation as to why she didn’t turn left and run for the daylight.
A jailer captured her, he said.
Ben of 640 Bernice St.., was in jail for probation, theft, possession of marijuana and disturbing the peace warrants, he said.
She now faces charges of simple escape, second-degree battery and resisting an officer by force or violence.
