Blue Jays fall to Bearcats in summer basketball action
The St. Edmund Blue Jays continued summer basketball action here last Friday, falling to the Basile High Bearcats by a 48-31 margin.
The game was tied at 30-30 with four minutes remaining in the fourth quarter, but the Bearcats went on an 18-1 run to pull away for the victory.
William Chachere, a rising senior guard, topped the Jays in scoring with 10 points. Rising senior forwards Culleen Brown and Dylan Bieber added eight and six points for the Jays. Guard Alex Dupree chipped in with seven points. Christopher Fontenot rounded out the starting five for the Jays.
In junior varsity action, Basile defeated St. Edmund by a 17-4 margin. Stephan Thibodeaux and William Manuel had two points apiece for the Jays.
Next action for the Blue Jays comes on Friday at the St. Edmund gym against North Central. Both junior varsity and varsity contests will be played, with a 5:30 p.m. start.
