Lady Cats slip past Crowley

The Eunice Lady Bobcats scored three runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to seal at 4-0 win over Crowley Friday in the EHS tournament.

“We will take an ugly win over a pretty loss any day,” Eunice head coach Scott Deshotel said afer the game. “We came out a little flat but we played good defense and did what we had to.”

Fuselier singled to centerfield and Herbert follwoed with a bullet down the third basebline to drive in Fuselier in the bottom of the second of the game’s first score.

Sarah Hebert and Amber Darbonne drew walks off Crowley pitcher Kristen Hargrave.

Blaire Fuselier who singled to open the frame was forced out at third when Camille Faul reached on a fielder’s choice.

With the bases loaded, Emily Turner hit a shot over shortstop Shelbe’e Hoffpauir to score Hebert for a 2-0 lead.

Jori Lejeune then ripped a two-RBI to plate Darbonne and Faul to complete the scoring.

Lejeune three a three-hitter with six strikeouts and a hitbatsman in the win.

“Jori threw another good game and we played solid defense,” the coach said. “We need to be a little more patient at the plate.”

The Lady Bobcats (5-1) travels to Avoyelles 5 p.m. Tuesday before hosting Sam Houston on Thursday in the District 4-4A opener.
