Cameron’s Shoes 5K Fun Run and Walk set Oct. 26
Put your runner shoes on...and donate a few pairs. The third annual Cameron’s Shoes 5K Fun Run and Walk is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 26 at 8 a.m. at Eunice City Hall.
Registration begins at 7:30 a.m. with a registration fee of $30. All participants are also asked to bring new or gently used shoes.
Cameron’s Shoes, a charity foundation, formed and created by Eunice native Stevie Guillory, provides shoes to poverty stricken families in Cali, Columbia.
All proceeds from the race will help fund shipping costs of shoes to Columbia.
Guillory, a physician’s assistant with Baton Rouge Orthopedic Clinic, learned and witnessed first hand through past medical mission trips to Cali that many of Cali’s people have no electricity or running water and live in substandard homes they built from supplies they gathered. Guillory also noticed that many patients who visited the clinic where he worked did not have shoes, and if they did, they were the only pair they owned.
Guillory will be participating in another medical mission in Cali in two weeks.
