CDA Court Eunice 208 celebrates 100th anniversary

The Catholic Daughters of the Americas Court Eunice #208 celebrated their 100th anniversary with a Sunday afternoon banquet reception.
An eleven o’clock Mass Sunday was performed by the Most Celebrant Rev. Michael Jarrell and dedicated to the 100th anniversary of Catholic Daughters of the Americas Court.
Bishop Jarrell also was among special guests at the anniversary banquet and said the invocation as part of the CDA’s program.
Mistress of ceremonies was Linda Gaudin, Court Regent. She welcomed and addressed the many attendees with CDA’s 100 years of history, news, activities and related events the Catholic Daughters of the Americas are involved in, including Eunice #208 Court. According to records, Gaudin said, that there are presently 120 CDA members throughout parishes of St. Anthony, St. Thomas More, and St. Lawrence Catholic Churches.

Many officials from state and national Catholic Daughters of Americas were in attendance, as well as Eunice area ministers, and the Court’s Chaplain Deacon Gary Gaudin.
Special guest speaker was Ellen Corbello, State Regent, who gave an enlightened talk about what the Catholic Daughters of Americas are all about.
Corbello extended a welcome and pleasure of being a part of 100 years of celebrating Catholic Daughters of Americas. She added, “I congratulate you, on behalf of La. State CDA Court, and know this is extra special for you and all CDA Courts.
“We especially are grateful for all our Knights Of Columbus who actually took a part and started the first CDA Court (National Order of the Daughters of Isabella) 100 years ago.” She added, “These men met and served their communities, while us (women) stayed home and did our own thing. That’s when the idea came along that women could also be of service in the community.”
“Now there are CDA Courts all over the world representing Service, and service to its people through many different types of services, activities, and events.”
At the state and local levels CDA are involved in giving scholarships to two Catholic schools’ students, eighth-grader and a graduating senior; a Habitat sponsor; Project Docks; Smile Child Charities; and much more not mentioned.
Corbello added, “We are a group of women with great faith, and the CDA started 100 years ago with women of great faith, vision, and service.”
The Court Eunice 208 of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas is presently headed by Linda Gaudin, Regent; Angela Huckaby, Vice Regent; Diana Parks, Recording Secretary; Germaine Courville, Finance Secretary; and Lynn Pavich, Treasurer.
CDA’s motto is, “Unity and Charity,” remains the prevalent theme as the members continue to ask for guidance from their patroness The Blessed Virgin Mary.
