Domestic Violence stops at home
A Domestic Violence Walk and Vigil, themed “Domestic Violence Stops At Home”, and sponsored by Chat-A-While Social & Civic Club, Eunice Bulb & Blossom Garden Club, and St. Landry/Evangeline Sexual Assault Center, was held Thursday afternoon with many women and men participating.
October is declared and recognized as Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and Eunice is showing their support by sporting lavendar ribbon bows on vehicles and businesses.
Mayor Rusty Moody welcomed and greeted the walkers and Zumba instructor Lisa Johnson performed a “warm up” routine before the walk began.
St. Edmund High Drumline members led the walkers on their route from Eunice City Hall parking lot onto Park Avenue, circling around Eunice Circle Park, and back on Park Avenue to conclude at City Hall where a vigil was held for those who died as a result of domestic violence.
