EUNICE – Hard work and dedication paid off for the 16 young men enrolled in the Oil & Gas Production course at ECTEC. At the mid-term point, all 16 passed the first part of the strenuous coursework needed to earn their T2 Safety Systems certification.
“This is the third year teaching this course at ECTEC, and each year the students come to us ready and willing to learn.” said Danny Soileau, ECTEC’s Oil & Gas and Welding instructor.
The two semester course requires complete passage of both parts to earn the T2 Safety certification. The first semester course focuses on oil and gas production processes, while the second semester course is T2 Safety Systems which emphasizes safe and efficient work practices.
ECTEC works with safety compliance company, J. Schneider & Associates to provide high school seniors specialized classroom instruction and practical shop experience in oilfield production. The class provides a general overview of oil and gas production processes, and emphasizes safe and efficient work practices, basic occupational skills and employability skills. Upon successful completion of the course, students receive their T2 certification and are job-ready with on-site interviews conducted in the spring.
“This is such a wonderful accomplishment for these young men,” said Kristine Joubert, ECTEC principal, “they understand the value of this course and are taking advantage of this wonderful opportunity.”
