Eunice Library hosts Summer Reading Awards program

“Every Hero Has A Story” Summer reading program concluded for youngsters, teens and adults Wednesday morning with an Awards program.
Door prizes, along with grand prizes were given to all library participants names that were drawn from a plastic bucket.
Bobbie Bordelon, children’s librarian at the Eunice Public Library, thanked all who participated and completed books read. She also extended a “thank you” to all sponsors, donors, individuals and local businesses who donated prizes.
Walmart of Eunice donated a bicycle as a grand prize winner in the youngster to 12-year-old age group.
Bordelon expressed that the summer reading program was a success and many book completions were noted. Each age group completed book readings, she added, “Youngsters or toddler to age 6, there were 96 participants to sign up, 52 completions, with a total of 1,690 books read.
“In the age group of 7-12, there were 132 participants with 69 completions, and 1,477 books read.
“The teen age group, 31 signed up for the program. There were 16 completions, and 252 books read.”
“The adult reading program, there were 35 who signed up to participate, 16 completions, and a total of 141 read books.”
The grand prize winner of the bicycle (toddler -age 12 group of readers) was Samarah Guillory.
Second prize winner was Bailey Conde, 8, winning an “Unleash Your Hero” T-shirt.
Alden Rachel won third prize of a small Hero trashcan filled with small puzzles, books, etc.
The teen grand prize winner, Jessilyn Reed, won a Kindle Fire HD6.
A Hero T-shirt was the second prize for teens. Claire Darbonne was the winner.
Tajanae’ Reed was the third prize winner in the teen division. She won a bookbag filled with books, and a wireless speaker.
The adult grand prize winner, winning a BlueRay DVD player, was Stephanie Guillory.
Second prize winner was Kristin Autrey. She was presented a Cafe’ Mosaic gift card, and third prize winner was Katie Griffith winning a Batman DVD of classics.
Red, green and blue ticket holders at the program were named winners with their “winning numbers” called-out. These winners won prizes of book bags, books, book markers, pencils, T-shirts, coffee mugs, bagged popcorn in a popcorn box, small water bottles, portable cell phone chargers, and much more.
Children, teens, and parents enjoyed cold lemonade and cookies at the conclusion of the program.
