A Bohemian Gala event, held on April 14, was on the menu for a grand opening of the “Such Fun Theater.”
The theater production was hosted by Mr. and Mrs. Dan Koch of Eunice. Eunice Pickelball ladies and friends were in attendance for a night of entertainment.
The gala affair was emceed by Wyonna Young, Cecile Duplechin and Pam Koch.
The night’s entertainment began with “Penelope Galore-Pam Koch” playing her piano rendition of “Gentle Earth and Gentle Creatures.” Music was accompanied by a short movie that featured local scenery and the gentle creatures that live in our area.
“Dan Vocalmann-Dan Koch” was next on the program. Guitar playing and the singing of fun songs delighted the guests. Sing alongs, and the mystery guest, a red rooster played by Izetta Darbonne, surely added the “Such Fun” touch to the evening.
After intermission was a special attraction. Making their debut appearance here for this gala event, was the fantastic group “Sparkles and the Three Twinkletts of Janice Stout, Cecile Duplechin, Izetta Darbonne and Martha Guempel.” They entertained the guests with their signature performance of “Dancing in the Street.” Hot pink boas and fish net stockings helped make this a most memorable entertainment experience.
‘Three Blind Mice’ has never been performed as magnificently as was done by the ‘Such Fun Orchestra of Dale Ward, Barbara Workman, Chris Duplechin, Elaine Deshotels, Beverly Vidrine, Debbie Leonards, Irene Sattler, and Faye Odom.’
Demonstrating finesse in conducting skills ‘Maestro Rounsavall Shadinka was Pam Koch from Yugoslavia’, led the “Such Fun Orchestra” to achieve the top song on the Bohemian charts.
During the interludes of entertainment, the guests told jokes. Each joke was rewarded appropriately by the sound of a clown horn, an audience “AAugh”, and a bombardment of peanut pom poms.
“Squeeze Box Tilly by Faye Odom,” rounded off the entertaining evening. The guests enjoyed the accordion playing and the fun sing-a-longs of “Tilly,” a very talented and special entertainer.
As the evening progressed the Growing Tree, demonstrated by Debbie Leonards, was a true puzzlement for the guests. It was used to symbolize the growing friendship of this group of ladies.
A short movie featuring photos of their friends accompanied by a CD of “You Can Count on Me” by Bruno Mars, finalized this wonderful evening at the “Such Fun Theater.”
