It was a “Grand” Day at Central Middle School on Oct. 10. Grandparents and great-grandparents were invited for an afternoon of bingo. There was also a Sweet Shop Bingo for grandparents. The purposes of the bingo day were to provide an opportunity for grandparents to network with one another and to have a fundraiser for the school’s library. Popcorn was the snack of the day. Each student who had their grandparent attend was rewarded with a casual day dress coupon and a Sonic gift certificate.
During the Grand Day Bingo grandparents submitted their responses to questionnaires about their grandchild/grandchildren. The questions were: What do you love most about your grandchild?; What are some things that make you very proud of him/her?; and What are your hopes for your grandchild’s future?
Principal Ranolviaun Landry commented, “It was wonderful to see women and men who serve as the ultimate family foundation gather to represent their grandchildren. My staff and I are already making plans for additional activities to get our extended family members involved and connected. And there may be a Holiday bingo in the works.”
