Hardys celebrate 50th wedding anniversary

Mr. and Mrs. Gerald James Hardy Sr. of Eunice celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Dec. 27 with a renewal of vows and a reception.
Gerald Hardy and Brenda Gayle Loeb were married on Dec. 28, 1965 at St. Mathilda Catholic Church in Eunice. Father Joseph Lefrois, SSJ, officiated the ceremony.
The renewal of vows was officiated by Rev. Darren Eldridge at St. Mathilda Catholic Church and a reception followed at the church hall, hosted by family members.
Some members of the Hardys’ original wedding party returned for the anniversary celebration. They were Barbara Victorian Guillory, Josie Frank, Charles P. Loeb III, and Reginald B. Loeb.
The Hardys are parents of five children; Deidre Naomi Hardy Street of Baton Rouge, Gerald J. Hardy Jr., D.C., of Dallas, Texas; Damien Charles Hardy of Eunice, D’Orsey Brian Hardy, R.N., of Houston, and Leisa Fruge Delafoisse of Basile. They are grandparents of 16 and great-grandparents of three.
Gerald is employed as the Middle School supervisor for Acadia Parish. He was an educator in the St. Landry Parish school system where he served as English and social studies teacher, an assistant principal at Eunice High School and principal at Central Middle School.
Brenda, also an educator, was a science teacher at Charles Drew and Eunice Jr. High School, a guidance counselor at Eunice Jr. High and Eunice High School and Acadia Parish schools. She is retired, however volunteers once a week at Eunice High School.
