Highland Elementary students celebrate "Read Across America"

Dr. Seuss Birthday celebrated at Highland Elementary

Highland Elementary students and staff celebrated Read Across America in conjunction with Dr. Seuss’ birthday. Students enjoyed and participated in different activities and events, some included crafting Red and White hats, which were hand crafted by Pre-k, kindergarten and first-graders. Second-graders painted Dr. Seuss characters on canvases; third-grade students completed book reports on their favorite Dr. Seuss story; fourth-grade students participated in a Read-a-Thon. Faculty members dressed as their favorite Dr. Seuss characters-“Thing One” and “Thing Two,” and cafeteria workers served “green” eggs representing the famous Dr. Seuss book Green Eggs and Ham. The events concluded with students enjoying cake with blue icing in honor of One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish.
