Ladies and gentlemen, boys, girls..
Eunice High School held its annual Renaissance Academic Pep Rally Feb. 28 with a “Circus” theme.
Students, faculty, and staff dressed in “circus clad wear” to celebrate academics, achievements, and success at Eunice HIgh School.
Students earning top GPA averages, from 2.79 to 4.0, were awarded and recognized with free T-shirts as prizes.
Students earning Perfect Attendance throughout the school term received $50 each. These students are: Derek Ardoin, Jada Bordelon, Taneisha Chavis, Tarneisha Chavis, Jessica Hernandez, Sean Manuel and Destiny Thompson.
Students in each homeroom who received “no behavior” tickets and have not missed more than two unexcused absences per six weeks will be invited to a pizza party.
Students earning a 3.5 GPA average while participating in one or more sports were presented T-shirts, sponsored by EHS Booster Club president Roger Pedigo.
The following students are participating in one sport and earning a 3.5 GPA: Allison Bellard, Dylan Bertrand, Kelsey Courville, Khaleel Deville, Logan Dischler, Destiny Edwards, Cameron Fontenot, Gunner Fontenot, Mariah Fontenot, Sadie Fontenot, Dyshanique Freeman, Shauntella Gallow, Katelyn Guillory, Alayna Hebert, Katlyn Joubert, Jacob Lacombe, Sarah Lavergne, Joshua Ledoux, Angel Lewis, Daniel Lombas, Kaliee Lyons, Sean Manuel, David Middlebrooks, Jadey Miller, Elizabeth Mire, William Oglesby, Gabe Ortego, Jailyn Papillion, Heidi Pitre, Jeremy Reed, Reiah Robinson, Christie Sonnier, Hailey Thibodeaux, Kristi Thibodeaux, Timia Thomas, Elise Velez, Dashaya Vigers, Simmoine Washington and Sadie West.
“Double threats” (students playing two sports while maintaining 3.5 GPA) were honored with T-shirts. These students included: Wesley Guillory, Ajyh Johnson, Jyhreh Johnson, Mia LeJeune, Camron Mire, Carlee Myers, Skylar Ned, A.P. Sonnier, andJake Sonnier,
One “triple threat” scholar athlete was recognized, Kate McLemore, playing three sports while maintaining at least a 3.5 GPA.
TOP Cat award at Eunice High is given to the “best of the best” student who strives for excellence in every aspect of education. This award is given to the top student in each grade who excels, maintains a 4.0 GPA and has least amount of absences. These students received $25. Top Cats are, Jyhreh Johnson, freshman, Camron Mire, sophomore, Brooke Jones, junior; and Kristi Thibodeaux, senior.
Top AR (Accelerated Reading) students were honored. The following students have earned the most points for the school year. They each received a $10 gift card from Barnes and Noble. They are: Quinton Baudoin, Hollie Heinen, Titus Davis, Alexis Vail, Breenen Vidrine, Gage Alleman, Haley Johnson. Placing third and receiving $25 gift card to Barnes & Noble was Tonekia Freeman; placing second and awarded with a $25 gift card was Brayden Gaspard; and first place earning 397 AR points was Richlyn Pousson, who received a Kindle as her reward.
Twelve students have earned straight A’s during first semester of school and received a pair of Beats by Dr. Dre earbuds as their prize and reward. These students include: Jyhreh Johnson, Katlyn Joubert, Elise Velez, all freshmen; Keyana Dupre, Camron Mire, Madison Dupre, Jailyn Papillion, and Hailey Thibodeaux, sophomores; Dylan Reed, Lauren Vidrine, Trinion Winbush, juniors; Manjot “Goldie” Singh, senior.
Students earning ACT score of at least a 22 to 24 received a EHS duffel bag. These students included: Sheariah Bell, D.J. Daigle, Jor’Don Daigle, John Debarge, Danielle Doucet, Harley Duplechain, Scott Lafleur, Ashley Laramore, Savannah Manuel, Myriam Pierrotti, Kyle Wilson, Kailiee Lyons, Sadie Chatman, Addie Field, Jordan Pacheco, Kristi Thibodeaux, Victoria Estilette, Gavin Fontenot, Malenski Thomas, Sashanique Guidry.
Students scoring a 25-26 ACT score received T-shirts and duffel bags. These students were: Breann Gotreaux, Justin Guillory, Joshua Holcomb, Abby Lafleur, Matthew Pitre, Carlee Myers, Sadie West, and Keonna Clark. All of these students are also eligible for the TOPS Performance Award which provides an extra $400 for college.
Students scoring 27-29 ACT score on ACT exam were: Dylan Bertrand, Kate McLemore, Connor Bihm, Adrien Blanchard and Jake Sonnier.
Manjot Singh scored a 33 ACT score and Gabe Ortego earned a 34 ACT score. These two students will have TOPS Honors Award which provides an extra $800 for college.
A homeroom at Eunice High which has the highest percentage in attendance, and lowest percentage of behavior tickets, was rewarded with T-shirts. Coach Peloquins homeroom students received the honor and prize. Students included Nadya Abdul-Jabbar, Kelsey Ashworth, Danielle Doucet, Kali Folse, Brice Fontenot, Skilynn Fontenot, Courtney Hayes, Trentyn Lebouef, Hailey Lowery, Ja’corey Mitchell, Courtney Richard, Dai’sha Richard, Rian Richard, Lindsey Thibodeaux and Jerwaski Thomas.
The most improved students were recognized. These students strived to improve in their school work and have given their best at it. They received $10 Sonic gift cards as their reward. Most Improved Students included, Lance Gaspard, Precious Ardoin, Deomaante Frank, Logan Hebert, Johneisha Porter, Harley Duplechain, Barjona Bell, and Christian LeJeune.
Ella Green was recognized as Support Worker of the Year and was presented with a gift certificate for her recognition.
Alicia Guillory Bielstein was honored with a $100 gift card from Bijous as Teacher of the Year at Eunice High, and Manjot “Goldie” Singh presented with $100 gift card to Best Buy as Student of the Year.
Grand prize winner from a drawing of student’s ticket and winning a Kindle Fire was junior Matthew Brown.
