Local youth part of La. Overall State Championship Quiz Bowl

Samual Hebert, a Freshman at Episcopal School of Acadiana in Cade, was part of the Louisiana Overall State Championship Quiz Bowl team. On March 22 on the Northwestern State University campus in Natchitoches, 30 teams competed in the Louisiana Association of Academic Competition’s 23rd Annual State Quiz Bowl Tournament. ESA competed in Division IV, and secured that Championship with wins over Cedar Creek (Ruston), St. Thomas Martin Episcopal (Metarie), River Oaks (Monroe) and the Academy of the Sacred Heart (New Orleans). Next up were the Division I, II, and III Champions, Jesuit (New Orleans), E.D. White (Thibodeaux), and Holy Savior Menard ( Alexandria), respectively. With a victory over Menard, ESA then faced Jesuit, with the final outcome of the match and tournament being decided on the last question, and an ESA victory. Samual is located fifth from the left in the above photo and is the son of Drs. Chip and Charice Hebert of Eunice.
