Nunez's celebrate Golden Wedding Anniversary
Dr. William J. Nunez, III, and Adele H. Nunez celebrated their 50th Golden Wedding Anniversary on Aug. 7 with their two children, Stephanie and Billy; and, their spouses, Brian and Melanie, along with their three grandchildren, Megan, Joey and Lauren, at their new home in Covington, followed by a commemorative dinner at Keith Young’s Steakhouse.
On Aug. 9, the Nunez’s had their marriage blessed by the Rev. Gary Copping at St. Anselm’s Catholic Church in Madisonville. Gifts of 50th anniversary toasting goblets, and a book of “family photo’s”, chronicling the couple’s more than 50 years as “life-partners” were thoughtfully provided to Adele and Bill by their family members to both acknowledge and remember this extraordinary event and occasion in their respective lives together.
Adele and Bill were married on Aug. 7, 1965, at St, Catherine of Sienna Catholic Church in Metairie, by the Rev. John B. Becnel, followed by a reception at the Elmwood Plantation.
The Nunez’s are both retired, professional educators whose careers have each spanned over 40 years: Adele (43 years) as an elementary school teacher, principal, and reading specialist, recently retired from Acadia Parish; and, Dr. Nunez, who served over his 45 year career as a professor, chairman, dean, vice-chancellor; and, who recently retired after 19 years as the chancellor of the LSU Eunice campus.
Bill and Adele now reside in Covington and are looking forward to becoming as actively involved in their new, Northshore community, as they’ve been in all other communities within which they’ve resided.
