Some "Holiday Cheer" for welding students

Representatives from Turner Industries of Baton Rouge were in town recently bearing gifts for the welding students at the Eunice Career & Technical Education Center (ECTEC.)
“This gift couldn’t have come at a better time for our school,” said Kristine Joubert, ECTEC Facilitator, “with current hiring trends showing a need for skilled labor, this donation will aid us in training our students for future employment.”
Turner Industries representative Wayne Tyson made the trip to visit with students about career opportunities with the company and donated supplies including: welding rods, gloves, face shields, grinding discs, wire wheels and safety glasses.
Ranked the largest overall contractor in Louisiana, Turner Industries is the number one industrial maintenance contractor in the country. Students often graduate and continue their training through programs provided by the company.
“We are so fortunate to have the support of Turner Industries,” said Danny Soileau, ECTEC Welding Instructor. “With their continued commitment to our program, we are able to train high-quality candidates for their future employment needs.”
The ECTEC welding program provides specialized classroom instruction and practical shop experience in welding.
It prepares individuals in various processes and techniques of welding and emphasizes safe and efficient work practices, basic occupational skills and employability skills.
Upon successful completion of the course, students are able to receive credit for NCCER modules and qualified students have to opportunity to dual enroll with the Louisiana Technical College System.
