St. Edmund honors Fifth, Eighth- and Twelfth-Grade Students of the Year
Each year, St. Edmund Catholic School participates in the Louisiana Department of Education’s Student of the Year Program. This program is designed to recognize outstanding elementary, middle/junior high, and high school students.
This program is an excellent opportunity to recognize from each school system those students who have demonstrated excellent academic achievement.
The criteria is set by the Louisiana Department of Education for all schools to follow. Students in the fifth, eighth, and twelfth grades with a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or above are eligible to participate in the program.
St. Edmund Catholic School announced Luke Vidrine as the 2014-2015 Fifth-Grade Student of the Year; Anna-Claire Heinen, as the 2014-2015 Eighth-Grade Student of the Year; and Victoria Heinen, as the 2014-2015 Twelfth-Grade Student of the Year.
Luke Vidrine is the son of Brian and Holly Vidrine of Eunice.
Vidrine’s activities include, from third to fifth-grade, a 4-H Club member for 3 years; City Football Team member for 2 years; City Baseball Team / All Star Team member for 2 years; Cub Scouts for 3 years; Toys for Tots participant for 3 years; Eunice Rotary Food Drive volunteer for 3 years; Miles Perret Foundation Coin Collection Fundraiser volunteer for 2 years; Cub Scout Flag Ceremony volunteer for 3 years; Box Tops for Education Label Collection participant for 3 years; Community Coffee Label Collection participant for 3 years; Select Baseball Team (Warchief Baseball Team) member for 1 year; Jr. Beta Club member for 1 year; DARE(Drug Awareness) member for 1 year; St. Edmund 5th grade Football Team member for 1 year; and St. Edmund 6th grade Basketball Team member for 1 year.
Vidrine honors and awards since third grade are, St. Edmund Blue Book Award recipient (2012-2013 & 2013 -2014); Honor Roll recipient (2012-2013, 2013-2014, & 2014-2015); Young Christian Award- 2012-2013; Bluejay of the Week – 2012-2013; 1st place in Acadia District Pinewood Derby – (2012-2013); 2012-2013 Year for the 4-H Livestock Show: 2nd place showmanship, Livestock- 9th place, LA Bred-8th Place, 5th place showmanship, Livestock 4th place, LA Bred 2nd place, 4th Place showmanship, Livestock-5th place, LA Bred-4th Place; Field Day awards – (2012-2013);
Vidrine also is a Eunice Library Summer Reading Program participant, a recipient of the Camp Ozark Helpful Award – (2012-2013); a recipient of the St. Edmund Most Growth in Reading (2013-2014); recipient of the Catholic Daughter’s of the Americas Poetry Contest (2013-2014); Participant of 2013-2014 Acadia Parish 4-H Livestock Show: 2nd place showmanship, Livestock-1st place, LA Bred-1st place, 5th place showmanship, 2nd place LA Bred, 5th place showmanship, 7th place showmanship, and 6th place LA Bred; USSSA World Series Homerun Derby (2013-2014); USSSA World Series Outfield Derby (2013-2014); a recipient of the St. Edmund Accelerated Reading Bookworm Award (2014-2015)
Anna-Claire Heinen is the daughter of Dr. Monty Heinen and Tiffani Heinen of Eunice.
Anna-Claire’s leadership positions at school include, Captain of the T-Jay Cheerleaders (2014); St. Anthony Church Parish Happy Days Group Leader (2012, 2013, 2014); and a Allie Powell Mission Fundraiser Group Leader (2012).
Her activities include: T-Jay Cheerleader, National Junior Honor Society member for 1 year; maintains Golden Honor Roll for the past 7 years; Jayette Spirit Group member for 2 years; Irving Awards Performer; member of the Junior Beta Club for 2 years; DARE member, participant of Dancing Lessons for the past 12 years and Gymnastics lessons for 9 years; DMA participant for 8 years; Track member, Cross Country team member for 2 years; Student Honors Intensive Program in New York, Relay for Life Performer and a member of UL dissecting Class for 1 year.
Anna-Claire’s honors and awards include: Dance Master of America Tap Scholarship (2009-2014); Dance Master of America Top 5 overall (2011-2014); Dance Master of America Lorna Badon Knaus High Tap Memorial Teen Scholarship (2014); Dance Master of America Teen Miss Dance 3rd Runner Up (2013); Dance Master of America High Interview Award (2011, 2012); Dance Master of America Junior Miss Dance 2nd Runner Up (2012); Dance Master of America Junior Miss Dance 4th Runner up (2011); Olivia Dodd Studio of Dance Overall Most Talented Student and Performer (2014);
At school, Anna-Claire has acheived the St. Edmund Big Heart Award (2008); St. Edmund Blue Book Award (2008-2012); Apple of my Eye Eunice Newspaper (2008); St. Edmund International Day -1st Place (2013); St. Edmund Physical Education Award (2008-2012); and Eunice City Council Certificate from the Mayor for Competition Awards (2014).
Victoria Heinen is the daughter of Dr. Monty Heinen and Tiffani Heinen of Eunice.
Victoria’s leadership positions held include, Co-Captain of the Varsity Cheerleading Team (2014); Student Council Class Representative (2011-2014); Class Vice-President (2011, 2010, & 2009); National Honor Society Secretary/Treasurer (2014); and 7th Grade Catechism teacher for St. Thomas More Church (2014).
Her activities include: Varsity Cheerleader for 3 years; T-Jay Cheerleader for 1 year; Jayette PepSquad-1 year; St. Edmund Drummer-1 year; Literary Rally-1 year; National Honor Society-3 years; National Junior Honor Society-2 years; AHEC of a Summer-1 year; FBLA-3 years; Allie Powell Mission Fundraiser Coordinator-1 year; Relay for Life Dancer- 1 year; Irving Awards Performer-2 years; Student Honors Intensive Program in New York-1 year; a member of the ACT 22+ Club-1 year; National Dance Masters of America Convention-2 years; Track-4 years; and Cross Country-1 year.
