Swine Festival seeks contestants

The 50th Louisiana Swine Festival is set for the first weekend of November in Basile, but the festival’s pageants will take place on Saturday in the Basile High School gym.
The La. Swine Festival Pageants are listed below with their respective age categories and times of competition:
Senior Pageants The senior queens pageants will be held at 6 p.m. for the crowning of Miss La. Swine Festival (ages 17-23), Teen Miss Swine Festival (ages 15-16), and Ms. Swine Festival (ages 24 and older). Interviews will begin at 9 a.m. Registration starts at 8 a.m. The formal pageant is set for 6 p.m.
Junior Pageants The King Porky-Queen Petunia Pageant begins at 1 p.m. with registration at 12:30 p.m. for 6-8 year old boys and girls. The Junior Deb, Deb Miss, and Junior Teen Miss Pageant begins at 4 p.m. Jr. Deb is for girls ages 9-10, Deb Miss is 11-12, and Jr. Teen Miss is 13-14.
Baby Pageants Registration for the baby pageants begins at 8:30 a. with the pageant set to start at 9 a.m. with the pageant starting at 10 a.m. Categories include Baby Miss and Baby Mister (0-11 months), Toddler Miss and Toddler Mister (12-23 months), Tiny Miss and Tiny Mister (2-3 years), Petite Miss and Petite Mister (age 4), and Little Miss and Little Mister (age 5). Age requirement is based on the contestant’s age as of October 31.

No late entries or door entries will be accepted.
Entry forms for all of the above pageants are available at Louisiana Traditions, Thrifty-Way Pharmacy and at the Basile branch of the Evangeline Parish Library, alll located on Stagg Avenue (Main Street) in Basile. Forms are also available at the La. Swine Festival Facebook page.
