Two Eunice students named St. Landry Parish Student of the Year
Two Eunice schools have among their student bodies St. Landry Parish Student of the Year honorees.
Eunice High School senior Manjot (Goldie) Singh and Eunice Junior High School eighth-grader Victoria Ardoin have been named St. Landry Parish Student of the Year.
The two, who were named in December at their schools as Students of the Year, advanced to compete at parish level and learned recently of the parish honor.
Singh and Ardoin competed against other Students of the Years in the parish.
At the parish level they participated in a writing prompt event held at the school board office and also had to submit an application portfolio which included all of their accomplishments, recognitions, and an autobiography.
Their final event was an interview held at the school board office.
Singh and Ardoin will now advance to the regional level at a later date.
Singh maintains a 4.0 GPA and is actively involved in numerous clubs, and activities at the high school.
Singh, fondly called by his fellow classmates as “Goldie,” is a member of the Student Council, Vice President of FBLA, three-year team member of the tennis team, four-year member of Renaissance Club, National Honor Society member and member of Quiz Bowl. He serves as Vice President of the Science Club and is a 4-H Club member.
Singh earned the Eunice High Top Cat Award and Eunice High Scholar Athlete Award.
He received the ACE Letterman Award, and is an ACT 28+Club member, earned a ACT score of 33.
Singh is the son of Gurbaksh Singh and Parveen Kaur.
Ardoin is an honor roll student at Eunice Junior High School, currently holding a 3.9 GPA. She is actively involved on campus where she serves as captain of the EJHS Cheerleading squad, and is a member of the Renaissance Student Council.
She serves as a librarian assistant and her favorite subject is math.
Ardoin is the daughter of Stacy and Kimberly Ardoin of Eunice.
