Walk for The Cure at Highland Elementary

Highland Elementary held its annual Walk for The Cure Oct. 23 with students, teachers, faculty, parents and grandparents showing their support for a cure for breast cancer by wearing pink. Holding the official walk sign is Viola Bellard, computer lab facilitator. At the conclusion of the walk around the school’s campus, students released pink balloons. Students donated $1 to dress in pink for the day, and parents donated $2, with all proceeds going to cancer foundation. The school also served pink lemonade for a $1 donation. Highland Elementary’s 23-year paraprofessional Carolyn Faul is 9-year cancer-free and Lorita Harris, a 2-year cancer-free survivor, is the grandmother of Highland Elementary’s third-grader Tristian Harris. Highland nominated the two cancer-free women to lead the walking parade. Principal at Highland Elementary is Lorie LeDoux. (Photos by Myra Miller)
