Zeta Amicae is an Auxiliary and are friends to Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. The auxiliary is composed of Christian women who have not completed college nor do they have a college degree, but are willing to help members of the Sorority serve and perform community service.
Each June the group meets for a Regional Workshop where they develop and establish rules for themselves, outline projects they will work on during the year, recognize those Auxiliaries and the Z-Hope projects that were done during the past year and present two (2) $1,500 scholarships, one to a student in Louisiana, and one in Texas.
This year the workshop was held in Shreveport, and the Zeta Amicae of Opelousas was happy to bring home two important facets of the workshop; Amica Lee Jordan Edwards of Eunice was elected Regional President and Manjot “Goldie” Singh, Valedictorian of Eunice High School class of 2014, was the recipient of the scholarship for Louisiana.
Others attending the workshop from the Zeta Amicae of Opelousas were Amicae Laura Balthazar, president, Paula Anderson, Catherine Allison, and Dorothy Fruge.
Ardessie Francois of Sigma Upsilon Zeta, sponsoring chapter, also attended the workshop. This Auxiliary is looking forward to sponsoring the workshop in June of 2016.
