Blessing of the graves planned at Carron Cemetery

Submitted

The annual blessing of the graves will be conducted at Carron Cemetery at 11:45 a.m. Sunday by a representative from St. Thomas More Catholic Church.
Honoring this annual tradition, the Carron Cemetery Family Alliance encourages all descendants of people buried there to prepare for the event by cleaning/painting their family grave sites. Families with nearby graves that appear to have been neglected, are also encouraged to honor these departed relatives by adopting that grave to maintain.
One of the oldest family cemeteries in the Eunice area, Carron Cemetery existed before the founding of Eunice; five soldiers who served in the War Between the States are buried there.
Formed in January 2010, with cemetery preservation and increasing family awareness of the need for maintenance of their ancestor’s graves as its goals, the alliance manages the lawn maintenance needs at Carron Cemetery. Free membership is extended to those related by blood or marriage, who are interested in assisting the group to achieve its goals.
The alliance asks that all related families wishing to contribute financial support this month for ongoing maintenance expenses send their donations to:
Carron Cemetery Fund, c/o Diane Bihm, CCFA treasurer, 2630 Perchville Road, Eunice, LA 70535.
