Roland Miller is announcing his candidacy for mayor of Eunice in the March 5 election.
His announcement includes the following.
“I am a lifelong resident of the city of Eunice, with the exception of serving 20 years in the United States Army.
“I attended Eunice public schools. I have completed various military courses and attended college courses through the Army Education Center, University of Maryland.
“I am married to Shirley Richard Miller. We have six children and 10 grandchildren.
“I am a retired Army master sergeant, Vietnam veteran, recipient of the Army Meritorious Service Medal, Bronze Star Medal and various other medals and decorations for my service to our country.
“I have lived and worked in four different countries enabling me to work with individuals with many different ethnic and racial backgrounds.
“I am a former business owner. I served on the police and fireman civil service board, served as a member of the Eunice city council for Ward 1 as well as mayor pro-tempore.
“During my tenure as council member, I worked tirelessly in solving drainage, road repairs and addressing the issue of dilapidated properties.
“I am a member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church, Eunice Chamber of Commerce, American Legion Post 129, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8971, Harmony Lodge 410 F&AM and a member of the Association of the United States Army.”
