Campaign announcement: Scott Fontenot

Scott Fontenot is announcing his candidacy for mayor of Eunice in the March 5 election.
His announcement includes the following.
“I am a 33-year-old lifelong resident of Eunice. I am married to Katie Smith Fontenot, a third-grade teacher at Eunice Elementary. Together we have two children, Anzley, 12, and Wesley, 10.
“I am the son of retired, three-term, Eunice Police Chief Gary “Goose” Fontenot and Mary Ann Fontenot who is employed by Aguillard Agency (40 years).
“I am also the owner and founder of Superior Auto Specialists, operating since 2004. I was elected as councilman of Ward 4 in 2010 and again in 2014, winning unopposed in my second term. I was recommended by the mayor and approved by the city council to serve as mayor pro tem for 2014 and 2015. I was then appointed and approved by the city council to become interim mayor in October 2015 to fulfill the unexpired term of the late Mayor Claude “Rusty” Moody.
“I have attended both Saint Edmund Catholic and Eunice public schools, graduating from Eunice High School in 2000. I also attended Louisiana State University at Eunice. I have served as a board member for the Eunice High School Alumni Association for the last five years.
“I am a former full-time employee of the Eunice Fire Department.
“For the last 15 years I have volunteered as a coach for the Eunice recreation department for both boys and girls and I am also a past league director.
“I am a current member of the Louisiana Municipal Association, having attended six conferences while receiving over 120 hours of training and seminars.”
