Council On Aging seeks members

The annual meeting of the St. Landry Council on Aging will be held at noon Sept. 17 at 2419 James Eaglin Lane in Opelousas.
One of the purposes of the meeting is to approve new appointments to the board.
There are three positions open.
Town of Melville.
Acadiana Medical Center.
Town of Palmetto.
A person is legally qualified to become a member of the board of directors provided they are of lawful voting age; desirous of fulfilling the purpose and mission of the council; and be a resident of the municpality he or she purports to represents for at least six months prior to being elected to the board and maintain residence for the duration of the elected time.
Terms are for three consecutive years.
Every eligible person who is interested in serving the senior citizens of St. Landry Parish as an active board member is strongly encouraged to contact the mayor of that municipality or Mary Chapman, executive director of the Council of Agian at 2419 James Eaglin Lane, Opelousas; or call 942-1938.
A final date for application is Sept. 2.
A public hearing will be held at 10 a.m. today for the public, at the Council of Aging office, at which time a membership drive will be held.
