Dope-infused products seized in traffic stop on U.S. 190

A traffic to on U.S. 190 near Three Mile Lake resulted in the seizure of THC -- the active ingredient in marijuana -- infused products from a Springfield man and woman on Tuesday, St. Landry Parish Sheriff Bobby Guidroz said in a news release.
A 2014 Chevrolot Cruze was stopped at about 11:30 p.m. for a traffic violation by the sheriff’s Highway Interdiction Team Guidroz said.
Guidroz identified the driver as Jason Ray Sibley, 39, of 3000 block of Lower Rome Road, Springfield, and the passenger was Heather Stamant, 42, of 30000 block of Huff Chapel Road, Springfield.
Detectives smelled marijuana coming from inside the vehicle, Guidroz said.
A search found two bottles of THC-infused massage oil, two bottles of THC-infused bath soak, 80 grams of THC-infused “gummy” candy, about three pounds of marijuana and a Bersa .22-caliber firearm, Guidroz said.
The street value of the narcotics was estimated at $30,000, he said.
Sibley is charged with use of multiple beam road lighting equipment, expired motor vehicle inspection sticker, possession with intent to distribute Schedule I controlled cangerous substance (marijuana), possession of drug paraphernalia and illegal carrying of weapons.
Stamant is charged with possession of drug Paraphernalia, illegal carrying of weapons, and possession with intent to distribute Schedule I controlled dangerous substance (marijuana).
The vehicle was impounded, he said.
Guidroz stated, “Our Highway Interdiction Team patrols St. Landry Parish highways to combat the flow of illegal drugs and to arrest criminals on our roadways. We have a zero tolerance for transporting drugs in and out of our parish.
