Eunice man tapped by governor for board seat

Gov. John Bel Edwards announced his appointments to several Louisiana boards and commissions.
Gov. Edwards announced appointments to the following boards and commissions:
Board of Ethics
The Board of Ethics is responsible for administering and enforcing provisions of the Code of Governmental Ethics, the Election Integrity Act, the Campaign Finance Disclosure Act and the Lobbyist Disclosure Act.
Edward B. “Ted” Dittmer, of Mandeville, was appointed to the Board of Ethics. Mr. Dittmer is an attorney and senior partner at Talley, Anthony, Hughes & Knight, LLC. He will serve as a representative of the 1st Congressional District.
Reentry Advisory Council
The Reentry Advisory Council was created to establish a more systematic approach to identifying obstacles that impede successful reentry of ex-offender. The council is charged with developing and implementing effective reentry strategies that improve public safety.
Robert D. Hanser, Ph.D., of West Monroe, was appointed to the Reentry Advisory Council. Dr. Hanser is a professor and program coordinator at the University of Louisiana at Monroe. He was nominated by and will serve as a representative of a victim’s advocacy group.
Joseph A. Prejean, of Church Point, was appointed to the Reentry Advisory Council. Mr. Prejean is the owner of Big Poppas Fitness Gym in Lafayette and a motivational speaker. Additionally, Mr. Prejean has experience with pretrial diversion programs across Louisiana. He will serve the council as an ex-offender.
Louisiana Commission on Human Rights
The role of the Louisiana Commission on Human Rights is to enforce specific laws pertaining to discriminatory practices in the state of Louisiana. To accomplish this purpose, the Commission uses distinct procedures for intake, investigation, mediation and determination to process official complaints of discrimination.
F. Clayton Latimer, of New Orleans, was appointed to the Louisiana Commission on Human Rights. Ms. Latimer is an attorney in private practice and a contract attorney with Southeast Louisiana Legal Services where she represents children in abuse and neglect cases. She will serve as an at-large member on the commission.
Tamara Kluger Jacobson, of New Orleans, was reappointed to the Louisiana Commission on Human Rights. Ms. Jacobson is a managing attorney at the Law Office of Tamara Kluger Jacobson, LLC. She will serve as the chair and an at-large member on the commission.
Angela K. Faulk, of Abbeville, was reappointed to the Louisiana Commission on Human Rights. Ms. Faulk is an abstractor for her business, RED Angel Ventures, LLC. She will serve as an at-large member on the commission.
Terry L. Jackson, of Bossier City, was appointed to the Louisiana Commission on Human Rights. Ms. Jackson is a registered nurse with United Home Health Care and a dance instructor. She will represent the 4th Congressional District on the Commission.
Courtney L. Hunt, of Baton Rouge, was appointed to the Louisiana Commission on Human Rights. Ms. Hunt is the problem resolution officer for the Governor’s Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness. She will represent the 6th Congressional District on the Commission.
Fireman’s Supplemental Pay Board
The Fireman’s supplemental Pay Board is responsible for determining eligibility of firemen to receive supplemental pay.
Ronald J. Shillace, of Hammond, was reappointed to the Fireman’s Supplemental Pay Board. Prior to retiring, Mr. Shillace was the director of the Fire Prevention Bureau for the City of Hammond. He will serve as an at-large member with at least 25 years of experience on the board, as required by statute.
Brien C. Ruiz, of Covington, was reappointed to the Fireman’s Supplemental Pay Board. Prior to retiring, Mr. Ruiz was the deputy chief for the St. Bernard Parish Fire Department. He was nominated by and will serve as a representative of the Professional Firefighters Association of Louisiana, as required by statute.
Dwayne J. Thevis, of Eunice, was appointed to the Fireman’s Supplemental Pay Board. Mr. Thevis is a service technician for the Iberia Parish Fire District #1. He was nominated by and will serve as a representative for the Louisiana State Fireman’s Association, as required by statute.
Frank J. Cusimano Jr., of Metairie, was appointed to the Fireman’s Supplemental Pay Board. Mr. Cusimano works for Quest Diagnostics as an RSR II. He was nominated by and will serve as a representative of the Professional Firefighters Association of Louisiana, as required by statute.
Louisiana State Interagency Coordinating Council for EarlySteps
The Louisiana State Interagency Coordinating Council for EarlySteps serves to advise and assist the Lead Agency in the performance of its responsibilities, particularly in regard to: (a) identification of the sources of fiscal and other support for early intervention services; (b) assignment of financial responsibility to the appropriate agency; and (c) promotion of interagency agreements. The Council also advises and assists the Lead Agency in the preparation of applications, the transition of infants and toddlers to preschool or other appropriate services at age three, and the preparation and submission of an annual report to the Governor and to appropriate federal authorities on the Status of EarlySteps.
Darrin L. Harris, of Baton Rouge, was appointed to the Louisiana State Interagency Coordinating Council for EarlySteps. Mr. Harris is the CEO of Ekhaya Youth Project, Inc. He will serve as an at-large member on the council.
Gwendolyn M. Gene, of Baton Rouge, was appointed to the Louisiana State Interagency Coordinating Council for EarlySteps. Ms. Gene is the program consultant for social service at the Office of Juvenile Justice. She will serve as an at-large member on the council.
Allison J. Young, of Baton Rouge, was appointed to the Louisiana State Interagency Coordinating Council for EarlySteps. Ms. Young is the president and CEO of Louisiana Community Plan for United Healthcare. She will serve as an at-large member on the council.
Angela G. Lorio, of Baton Rouge, was appointed to the Louisiana State Interagency Coordinating Council for EarlySteps. Ms. Lorio is the founder of Trach Mommas of Louisiana. She will serve as a parent representative on the council.
Darla L. Louviere, of New Iberia, was reappointed to the Louisiana State Interagency Coordinating Council for EarlySteps. Ms. Louviere is an administrative assistant at Cornerstone Financial Group. She will serve as a parent representative on the council.
Louisiana Emergency Response Network Board
The Louisiana Emergency Response Network Board serves to defend the public health, safety and welfare by protecting the people of the State of Louisiana against unnecessary deaths and morbidity due to trauma and time-sensitive illness.
Danita A. LeBlanc, of Baton Rouge, was reappointed to the Louisiana Emergency Response Network Board. Ms. LeBlanc is the program manager for the Louisiana Department of Health’s Office of Behavioral Health. As required by statute, she will serve the agency representative from the Office of Behavioral Health within the Louisiana Department of Health.
Louisiana Board of Pharmacy
The Louisiana Board of Pharmacy serves to protect the public health, safety and welfare by the effective control and regulation of the practice of pharmacy and the licensure of pharmacists. The Board also regulates the licensure, permitting, certification, registration and control of all persons and sites, in or out of this state, that sell drugs or devices to consumers and/or patients, or assist in the practice of pharmacy, within the state. The Board functions as the controlled substance authority for the state, issuing controlled dangerous substance licenses to all qualified applicants desiring to manufacture, distribute, prescribe or dispense controlled dangerous substances within the state.
Don L. Resweber, of St. Martinville, was reappointed to the Louisiana Board of Pharmacy. Prior to retiring, Mr. Resweber was the owner and manager for Tuffy’s Chevron. He will serve as an at-large consumer representative on the board.
