A proposed trial library for St. Landry Parish was rejected by the Police Jury on an 8-5 vote. Jurors will reconsider it should funds be available after all bridges are inspected and repaired.
Johnny’s Food Store will occupy the eastern one-half of the newspaper building at 2nd & Peach, according to the store’s ower Johnny Roussell and the newspaper’s Matt Vernon.
Vernon announced has purchased the complete Opelousas Herald news plant and will move its equipment here.
A French club is being organized at Eunice High. Laura Kern is the faculty sponsor and Clifford Guillet was elected president.
Several thousand people jammed the fair grounds on the last of five days of the Southwest Louisiana Fair to hear U.S. Sen. Russell G. Long and Congressman Hale Boggs.
The State Bond and Tax Board has approved a $250,000 bond issue for construction of a new hospital here.
