Cadi Pedigo, 13, daughter of Roger and Gail Pedigo of Eunice, was named queen of the Teen Miss of the International Miss Youth Development Program. During the Thanksgiving holiday week she was to appear on the “Today” show.
Members of the Eunice 9- and 10-year-old team were honored with certificates at a city council meeting. Team members were Darrel Perez, Mac Manuel, Casey Charlie, Trevor Hargroder, Lance West Jacob Landreneau, Jake O’Brien, Ron Johnson, Ryan Goudeaux, John Aucoin, Brian Zorn and Quintin Arnold. Coaches were Brian Landreneau, Howard Hargroder, Chad Manuel, Joe Charlie and Wilfred Charlie. The team won its district and sectional championships.
Eunice Lions Club members went to Leesville to barbecue for camp counselors. Club members participating included Gene Noel, Herbert Stelly, Phyll Guillory, Herman Francois, Havey Gil, Merlin Moreau, Carrol Bourgeois and Clay Menard.
The Eunice News reported 13,000 tons of contaminated soil had been removed the site of the May 27 train derailment west of Eunice.
St. Edmund Elemetnary Beta Club officers were Callie Richard, parliamentarian; Courtney Fuselier, treasurer; David Caswell, secretary; Lauren Caswell, vice president; and Katherine Ward, president.
The Blue Jays ended five straight losses to Vermilion Catholic with a 34-7 win. Will Brown scored two of the St. Edmund touchdowns.
The Bobcats were defeated by the Notre Dame Pioneers 21-14 in overtime. Victor Stevens and Jerold Darby scored touchdowns for the Bobcats.
