The following items are from the 1998 files of The Eunice News.
The Rotary Club honored winners of its essay contest. Brett Bergeron and Billy Berchtold were first-place winners. Runners-up were Ryan Buxton, Toni Cameron, Abby Degar, Hannah Duplechain, Joseph Picard and Brandon Veillon.
The Eunice Chamber of Commerce was planning the New Year’s Eve Extravaganza at St. Thomas More Church Hall. Board members were Jane Ardoin, Ronnie Ardoin, Willis Bertrand, Pam Guillory, Dwight Jodon, Mike Johnson, Charles Manuel, Richard Matte, Billy O’Donnell, Carl Olivier, Todd Ortego, David Roberie, Bob Soileau and Randall Vigee.
The Champagne’s advertisement included Community Coffee at $3.99 a pound; beef shoulder roast for 99 cents a pound; and gumbo hens for 57 cents a pound.
Students of the month at East Elementary were Cody Brazier, Maggie Shoeffler, LaDrekia Doucet, Tachika Lewis, Jenna Pelcher and Lilly Vicknair.
St. Edmund High School’s Homecoming Court was announced. Members were Amy Thompson, Sally Turner, Mary Brown, Laura Feucht, Laurie Ledoux, Amy Ruppert, Laurie Driggs, Melissa Heinen, Jennifer Ardoin, Alice Pucheu and Brooke Bollich.
