The Eunice Country Club has voted to build a second tennis court, according to President Sammy Stagg. A lighting system will be installed for both courts.

Eunice’s Coleman Dupre ran a kickoff back 100 yards for a touchdown for Tulane in its game against North Carolina. Also playing for the Green Wave is Eunice’s Edward Smith.

Homecoming Court members at Eunice High are Queen Kim Burnett, Jackie Thibodeaux, Stephanie LaHaye, Bonnie Allison, Brenda West, Debbie Courville, Kayla Aucoin, Rita Poullard, Ozana Carrier, Gwen Brown, Karen Fontenot, Brenda Carrier, Jill Jackson, Debbie Montelaro, Paula Gillette, Kathy Larriviere and Bonnie Lewis.

Gubernatorial candidates Jimmie Davis and C.C. “Taddy” Aycock campaigned this month in Eunice.

Senior Class officers at St. Edmund’s High are Robby Miller, president; Suzanne LeDoux, vice-president; Sheryll LaFleur, secretary; and Doug Reed, treasurer.

Joan Hernandez of the Department of Foreign Languages at LSU Eunice, has been appointed a member of the Academic Advisory Board of CODOFIL by Gov. John McKeithen.

Services were held for Judge Isom J. Guillory, who died at age 81. He was the first attorney to open a private practice in Eunice. He has served as a state senator and a state representative and was a member of the State Board of Education for 12 years.

Chief of Police Clovis Durio reminds all citizens that it is against city law to burn leaves or other types of waste within the city limits.

Serving on the Eunice High Bi-Racial Committee this year are Wesley Brown, Amelda Allison, Liz Fuselier, Jill Jackson, Mark DeRouen, Patti McGee and Audrey Clark.

The National Guard Armory on Ninth Street will be used as temporary headquarters for the city’s Head Start program. There are five classes and about 90 students.
