Oliver Reed, appointed last summer to succeed the resigning J.B. Lewis, was elected to a full term as mayor.
A Bureau of Information has been opened in the Liberty Theater building for the purpose of answering Selective Service questions. Mrs. Sam Herrod and Misses Lorraine Young and Nola Guillory will assist all registrants, white or colored.
Former police chief A.C. Matt (three terms) has accepted a post at the State Penitentiary at Angola. He has also been a deputy sheriff and a state highway policeman.
Banker M.M. Milburn has been elected Rotary Club president. Coley Prudhomme is vice-president.
E.J. Montz, most recently of Reserve, is now in charge of the Roosevelt Resaturant at 2nd & Walnut.
The Rev. Otis Spinks of First Methodist Church has been suffering that most inconvenient malady for a man of the cloth -- he has had a sore throat and been unable to lead singing or preach during the current revival.
Louis McGee is scoutmaster of the new Boy Scout troop chartered by the Knights of Columbus.
City officials estimate the municipal population at 6,500, on the basis of more than 2,000 registered voters.
Sixty-four students are candidates for graduate at Eunice High.
