Fruge' seeks School Board Dist. 13 re-election
Harry Fruge’ has announced he will be a candidate for re-election to the St. Landry Parish School Board District 13 seat in the Nov. 4 primary. The seat represents a portion of Eunice.
Fruge’ has served as a board member for three terms.
He is married to the former Frances Ann Montelaro and they have three children: Anne Marie Miller, married to Jon Miller; Donald Fruge’, married to Jill Cormier; and Angelle Driggs, married to Mike Driggs.
The couple has eight grandchildren.
In the field of education, Fruge’ has worked as a bus driver, graduate teacher in college, coach, Central Office administrator as well as board member,
He is immediate past president of the School Board and has served on every board committee. He has been chairman of the Finance Committee several times and chairman of the Executive Committee.
Fruge’ is a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War and a former St. Landry Parish sheriff’s deputy.
He is a member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church, the Louisiana School Board Association and the Association of Secondary Curriculum Developers.
Fruge’ is a life member of NRA and the Eunice High Alumni Association and is a member of VFW and the Retired Teacher’s Association.
During his tenure, Glendale Elementary was rebuilt and other schools had extensive repairs completed after damage from several hurricanes and Eunice High was renovated over a five-year period at a cost of $5 million.
Also during his terms in office, the school system achieved unitary status under terms of the federal courts.
