JoJo Reed will run for police chief post

JoJo Reed has announced he will run for chief of police in the Nov. 4 primary.
Reed, 44, is a musician who said he has played in venues all over the world. He said the accordion is his specialty.
He said he was the first musician to play for Eunice Mardi Gras street dances and played for the first Crawfish Etouffee Cook-Off.
Reed, a 1989 graduate of St. Edmund Catholic High School, has no law enforcement experience.
He said the chief’s job is not about how to police but how to manage police. He likened it to a hospital administrator not having to be a surgeon.
Reed is the son of Lee John Reed. He has a 14-year-old daughter who attends Eunice High.
Reed said he was formerly part of the DARE program in St. Landry schools and has worked several St. Jude fund-raising events.
Other candidates are Chief Ronald Dies, retired Police Lt. Raymond “Bubba” Cole, City Court Chief Probation Officer Randy Fontenot, and retired federal agent Bart Thibodeaux.
