Man booked on 30 juvenile porn charges

A Eunice man faces a sentence of up to 600 years in prison if convicted of 30 juvenile pornography charges against him after being tracked down by cyber cops.
Kevin Briscoe, 35, was arrested at his 1841 West Magnolia St. residence over the weekend.
He is charged with 29 counts of possession porn involving juveniles and one count of distributing it.
According to the search warrant issued prior to the arrest, Briscoe allegedly had in his possession dozens of pornographic images and videos.
Other details of the case are under wraps due to secrecy provisions in sex offense cases imposed by the 27th Judicial District Court.
Records routinely available for public inspection in other cases are not public record in sex-related cases, under rules of the court.
According to a news release from Attorney General Buddy Caldwell, a joint law enforcement effort led to Briscoe’s arrest.
The arrest was as a result of a joint undercover investigation involving the Louisiana Attorney General’s Cyber Crime Unit and the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office.
Briscoe is charged with violating a state law forbidding a person to produce, distribute, possess, or possess with the intent to distribute pornography involving juveniles. If convicted, he faces up to 20 years in prison on each count.
Caldwell said his office’s Cyber Crime Unit has investigated thousands of computer crimes which have victimized children from infants to 17 years of age. To report suspected cases of Internet crime, call 1-800-256-4506
