Mid Winter Fair Rodeo coming to Lafayette Jan. 14-17

The 64th Annual Mid Winter Fair Rodeo will be at the Blackham Coliseum in Lafayette Jan. 14 to 17.
The rodeo will feature all standard Pro Rodeo events, including bareback riding, saddle bronc riding, bull riding, tie down roping, steer wrestling, team roping and Woman Pro Rodeo Ladies Barrel Racing.
Tickets are on sale now online at www.midwinterrodeo.com and also at area outlets in Lafayette at Cowboy Western, Boot Barn, Ranch Outlet, Cavenders, Cal’s Western, and in Eunice at Frey Outfitters and in Crowley at Huvals. The Mid Winter Fair Rodeo ticket office, located at Blackham Coliseum will be open Monday through Friday to Jan. 17.

Don Gay, eight-time World Champion Bull Rider, will be at all four performances of the Rodeo and will be on hand after each performance for autographs booth. The specialty act will be John Harrison the rodeo clown, Pro Rodeo’s Comedy Act of the Year, and he will entertain at all four performances.
January 15 only, the rodeo will feature a concert by Wayne Toups immediately following the rodeo performance. The arena floor will be open for dancing, and a cash bar will be available. A Friday night rodeo ticket includes the concert. Friday night’s audience will also have the chance to win a Dodge truck, sponsored by Acadiana Dodge and KXKC Radio. Fans, 18 and older, may participate in an airplane toss contest at halftime intermission, to win the truck. Official airplane toss paper airplanes will be passed out at the door. Contestants must use the official sheet provided and follow printed rules to be eligible to win truck.
Jan. 16 performance will feature live freestyle bullfights. Bullfighters Only, the country’s largest organization of freestyle bullfighters, will host a three man bullfights. Each bullfighters will showcase his skills for 70 seconds against three Mexican fighting bulls. Bullfighters Only will showcase 2010 World Champion Freestyle Bullfighter, Evan Allard, of Vanita, Oklahoma, 2013 World Champion Freestyle Bullfighter, Weston Rutkowski, from College Station, Texas, and Louisiana bullfighter, Hunter Allen from DeRidder.
The Mid Winter Fair Rodeo, is produced by Frontier Rodeo Company. World champion bucking horses will be featured in each performance of the Mid Winter Fair Rodeo.
