Miles Perret Cancer Services Games of Acadiana is Aug. 20

Miles Perret Cancer Services invites the public to Play with a Purpose at the 16th Annual Games of Acadiana from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 20 at the Cajundome Convention Center.
The first Games of Acadiana was held on Aug. 25, 2001, at the Cajundome. GOA was the vision of family and friends of 8-year-old Miles Perret, who lost his battle with cancer in 1996. The success of the first GOA enabled Miles Perret Cancer Services to open less than a year later.
GOA is still the signature fundraiser of Miles Perret Cancer Services. Businesses and individuals from across Acadiana come together to support MPCS’ mission of helping families fight, survive, and live with cancer. Miles Perret Cancer Services has served more than 13,000 families in Acadiana since its doors opened in 2002.
This unique family day of fun holds over 60 games and activities for the whole family to enjoy. Opening ceremonies features a “Survivor Walk,” a way to honor those surviving and living with cancer. Game Day then begins and participants can enjoy some old favorites like Hula-Hoop, Home Run Derby, Monster Spider Jump, Quarterback Pass, and Candy Land. New games for 2016 include Snow Mountain, Spider Climb, Knocker Balls, and a Zipline.
“We plan all year for this.” says Miles Perret Cancer Services Executive Director Nicole Jones. “It’s such a privilege to be able to share Game Day with inspiring survivors, their loved ones, and our generous community.”
