Nearly 5% voted early in St. Landry Parish

Early voting ends Tuesday

Nearly 3,000 people or 5 percent voted early in St. Landry Parish out of the 58,599 voters registered for the Nov. 8 election.
Early voting began Oct. 25 and ends Tuesday .
Early voting according to the Louisiana Secretary of State and as of Thursday were:
St. Landry Parish — 2,942 total; 1,731 Democrats; 859 Republicans; and 353, other. Of the total, 2,207 people voted in person.
Acadia Parish — 2,713 total; 1,228 Democrats; 1,106 Republicans; and 379 other. There were 2,167 votes case in person.
Evangeline Parish — 1,492 total; 826 Democrats; 472 Republicans; and 194 other. There were 1,328 votes cast in person.
State — 228,865 total; 105,430 Democrats; 89,083 Republicans; and 34,352 other. There were 190,991 votes cast in person.
In Acadia Parish, register from 8 am. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday at the Registrar of Voters Office, 568 NW Court Circle, Crowley. Contact the registrar’s office at 337-788-8841.
In St. Landry Parish, register from 8 am. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday at the Registrar of Voters Office, 118 S. Court St., Suite 114, Opelousas. Contact the registrar’s office at 337-948-0572.
One of the following documents are needed for registration; current state driver’s license; current state identification card; birth certificate or baptismal certificate.
The registration deadline for the Nov. 8 election has passed, but registration is accepted until Nov. 9 for the Dec. 10 runoff election.
The the last day to request an absentee by mail ballot for the Presidential Election and Congressional Primary Election is 4:30 p.m. Nov. 4.
The last day to request an absentee by mail ballot for the Congressional General Election is 4:30 p.m. Dec. 6.
Voters can request an absentee by mail ballot online through the state Secretary of State’s Voter Portal or in writing from a registrar of voters office.
Registration is available at the registrar of voters offices or online at geauxvote.com.
St. Landry Parish Registrar of Voters Cheryl Milburn reports there are 58,599 voters registered in the parish for the Nov. 8 election. There are 33,272 registered as Democrats; 12,734 registered as Republicans; and 12,643 as other party.
In Acadia Parish, Billie Myer, registrar of voters, reports 40,189 voters registered for the Nov. 8 election. Of those, 18,803 are Democrats; 11,863 are Republicans; and 9,523 are other party.
